About Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT): Alasdair Beatson and friends
Join us for a one course supper followed by an evening of music by Schubert and MacMillan.
Two outstanding internationally acclaimed Scottish musicians, pianist Alasdair Beatson and cellist Philip Higham, are joined by Polish violinist Bartosz Woroch in a programme that includes Schubert’s popular Wanderer Fantasie Sonata and Piano Trio in B flat and Scottish composer James MacMillan’s Piano Trio 14 Little Pieces.
Alasdair Beatson’s recent CD of Mendelssohn piano music received praise for “highly sensitive playing of rare insight” (Classic FM Magazine). Forthcoming performances include a fifth solo recital at Wigmore Hall in May 2012 and appearances as soloist with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the Scottish Ensemble.
Bartosz Woroch studied at the Paderewski Academy of Music, the Hochschule der Kunste in Berne and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
‘The sound of Philip Higham’s solo cello in the Third Cello Suite, singing its soulful song so close to your ear you could almost sense the air moving with the sound waves, was mesmerising.’ (The Herald)
